Our initiatives and innovations

We are constantly working on improving our packaging. Since the beginning of 2020, the weight of plastic per recipe has already been reduced by 25%!

Fresh ingredients that can withstand a beating, such as aubergine, chicory, parsnip and rosemary, can now be found in your box without a jacket. Tests have shown that this does not reduce quality.

Reduce

When packaging is really necessary, we try to reduce weight and optimize packaging for recycling, so there is less waste. Have you already come across the new mayonnaise packaging in your box? This one is made with 65% less plastic!
Replace

Replace

We were able to replace some packaging with a different material. For example, new packaging for rice and grain has been developed that consists of more than 95% paper and can be recycled with the rest of your waste paper.
Just recycle!

Just recycle!

Did you know that you can give your folded cardboard box to our drivers? We will then ensure that it is recycled. Nice and easy! Or recycle the box together with the paper bags with the waste paper.

40% of you have already returned the cardboard box to the delivery person for recycling - good job! You can also use it for other purposes.
Collaboration with Plastic Bank

Collaboration with Plastic Bank

As part of the Avoid, Reduce and Optimize initiative, HelloFresh has partnered with Plastic Bank®️ to combat plastic pollution and improve lives in Indonesia's local community. HelloFresh is sponsoring a sustainable recycling project that will prevent more than 750,000 kilograms of plastic from ending up in the ocean in three years. In three collection centers in Indonesia, members of the local community collect plastic, which is then recycled and returned to the chain. These members receive a premium for every piece of plastic they collect. This ensures that they not only have access to basic necessities such as electricity and food, but also to life-enhancing benefits such as health insurance and education for their families.
