HelloFresh commissioned an ISO 14040 compliant and peer-reviewed life cycle assessment (LCA), which shows that cooking with HelloFresh produces lower CO2 emissions than both restaurant delivery services and cooking with supermarket ingredients.
This study is based on an analysis of meals from three different categories (beef, chicken, vegetarian) delivered by HelloFresh in four regional markets, representing 80% of the total in 2020 annual volume of HelloFresh represent:
Finally, the difference in CO2 emissions between HelloFresh's meals and those of its competitors has been calculated as a percentage, by looking at the average greenhouse effect of the three supply systems.
The CO2 emissions of HelloFresh meals in the Benelux are on average 3% lower than that of restaurant deliveries and 11% lower than that of supermarkets. This means that HelloFresh meals generally have a lower impact on the climate.
