Cooking Steps

1
  • Preheat the oven to 170ºC.
  • Take the butter out of the fridge, cut into cubes and allow to reach room temperature.
  • Pour the cake mix into a large bowl and beat the eggs in another bowl.
2
  • Add the butter, 5 tbsp sugar and the beaten eggs to the cake mix and use an electric whisk or mixer to mix it into a smooth batter.
  • Pour the batter into a greased round cake tin.
  • Place in the centre of the oven and bake for 40 - 45 minutes (see Tip).
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool down completely.

Tip: after 45 minutes, check whether the cake is ready by piercing it with a skewer. The cake is done if the skewer comes out clean.

3
  • Meanwhile, slice the strawberries.
  • Use an electric whisk or mixer to whip the heavy cream with 1 tbsp sugar until firm and thick.
4
  • Slice the cake horizontally so that you get two layers.
  • Spread half of the whipped cream over the bottom layer of the cake.
  • Top with half of the strawberries.
  • Place the other layer of cake on top and coat with the rest of the whipped cream and strawberries.
